1. How does a school or company become a testing site for the Tek.Xam tests?
A school or company must have an Internet connection, and have enough workstations to accommodate the amount of people they wish to test. If the test is taken for certification, then the testing environment must be proctored.
In addition, a representative from the school or company must sign a Test Site Administration Agreement, stating that they agree to the terms and conditions set forth by Tek.Xam, LLC. A purchase order for the number of test takers must also be sent to the Tek.Xam offices before registration can begin.
2. What are the responsibilities of the school or company delivering the tests?
A representative of the institution responsible for delivering the test (Site Coordinator) must set up a time and place for giving the tests. The Tek.Xam office should be notified at least one week in advance of when the test will be delivered so that proper technical support can be arranged.
The Site Coordinator will also have to register the students for the test. Registration is completed with our test delivery software, and is done online through a web browser. See question #3 for a more detailed explanation of the registration process.
If the test is being taken for certification, someone must also be present in the test environment to hand out usernames and passwords to each student and to proctor the test.
3. How do I register test takers?
The Site Coordinator will be given a username, password and the registration URL in order to log on to our delivery software. After logged in, the Site Coordinator will choose Test Taker Registration from the menu choices available. Each test taker must be registered individually by submitting their first and last names, as well as their email address. The email address is used solely as a unique identifier for the test software.
Once registration is complete, the Site Coordinator can obtain a report of all registered test takers from the software which displays the Exam ID (logon ID) and Password for each test taker.
4. How do I log on to take the test?
An Exam ID (logon ID) and 2 passwords are required to enter the tests. Once you have arrived at the Exam URL, you will be prompted to enter your Exam ID and password. After you have logged on, you will be prompted for another password which is specific to your institution. This password exists for security purposes only.
After both logon screens have been passed, there are a few pages of information that precede the actual tests. First comes a set of general instructions which explains to the test taker how to navigate through the test. After that, a survey is presented which helps Tek.Xam, LLC collect demographic information about our test takers. This allows Tek.Xam, LLC to continually assess the validity of our test questions. When the survey is completed, the test taker will see a Confidentiality Agreement, which helps protect the information contained in the tests. The test taker must agree to this agreement before s/he is allowed to take any test.
After passing each of these preliminary pages, the test menu will appear. The test taker can choose which of the tests to take from this menu. Once the test taker has entered a test, it must be completed before s/he can begin another test.
5. How do I check my scores once I have completed the test?
To check your scores you will have to log on to the test a second time. If the test window is still open, you should close it and open a new browser window. Go to the test URL in the new window and enter your Exam ID and Password. Once you have logged on, you will see a menu choice called "View Results." Click on the "Go" button next to "View Results." That will take you to the page where your scores are displayed.
6. Is there technical support for the test?
Yes, a live person will always be available to you in case a technical problem arises. Technical support is limited to our test delivery software. We cannot support any issues that arise as a result of the school or company's network, workstations or Internet connection.
